IPPF European Network is launching a campaign which is called “Who are the sexiest MEPs 2009?“ Sexiest stands for the parliamentarians most concerned by Sexual and Reproductive Health and Right issues.
Its national members from Finland, Sweden, Spain, Germany, France, Denmark, Estonia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Bulgaria and Poland will elect the sexiest Euro-parliamentarian (MEP) of their country according to the results analysis of an electronic survey that will be sent to all the candidates before the European elections.
The purpose of this survey is twofold:
- To provide the candidates with information on the issues IPPF focuses on in its daily work related to health, gender equality and young people; and
- To examine their opinion on and plans for work on these subjects.
The survey contains a series of statements on sexual and reproductive health and rights, population and development issues regarding the European commitments at European Union and International levels. The candidates will be asked to indicate to what extent they agree/disagree on them. Then they will be elected according to the number of their most progressive answers.
After the European elections, in their countries, IPPF members intend to organise some media events with the sexiest elected MEPs.
